Common gas-piping projects
Customer-owned downstream gas piping may need to be installed, repaired, replaced, extended, relocated or rerouted when appliances change or a remodel changes the layout. Project scope may involve line sizing, connected load, developed length, accessible shutoff valves and the material already in the home.
Black iron, CSST and underground piping
Common search terms include black iron pipe, steel gas pipe, CSST, corrugated stainless steel tubing, bonded CSST, underground polyethylene gas pipe, PE gas pipe, anodeless riser, tracer wire and gas manifold. The correct material and installation method depend on the project, listing, code and conditions at the service address.
Gas line sizing
A larger appliance does not automatically work on an existing branch line. Gas load, BTU input, developed length, pressure and the other connected appliances all matter. Searches such as gas line too small or appliances lose flame when running together can point to a sizing or supply issue, but the actual system has to be evaluated.
Utility-side versus customer-owned piping
Pinnacle’s public scope is customer-owned downstream piping. Work reserved for the natural-gas utility or propane supplier—such as utility service-line or meter work—should be handled by the appropriate provider.
