What gas-log cleaning and inspection can include
Gas-log service is not just wiping dust off the decorative logs. Depending on the appliance and manufacturer instructions, service may involve the burner pan or burner tube, burner ports, pilot assembly, ODS pilot on vent-free equipment, ember material, log placement, gas valve, remote/receiver and visible venting or damper condition.
Pinnacle uses terms such as annual service, preseason service, clean and inspect, burner service, pilot service, gas-pressure check and operational check as part of one useful service cluster rather than pretending they are separate products.
Vented gas logs
Vented decorative gas logs operate with the fireplace configured for venting. Flame appearance, ember material and log placement depend on the listed burner system and manufacturer instructions. A yellow flame can be normal on many vented decorative sets; flame appearance must be judged against the specific appliance rather than a generic rule.
Vent-free gas logs
Vent-free, ventless and unvented are common search terms for the same general category. These appliances may use an oxygen-depletion-sensor pilot and have specific log-placement, input, ventilation and maintenance requirements. The appliance manual and rating plate matter.
Before the appointment
- Photograph the complete rating plate when safely accessible.
- Photograph the burner, pilot and log arrangement before moving anything.
- Tell Pinnacle whether the fuel is natural gas or propane/LP.
- Describe whether the set is hard to light, shuts down, has weak flame, unusual odor or soot.
